7-Eleven, Inc. has selected FM Facility Maintenance to handle all store maintenance for its 6,200+ corporate- and franchise-owned locations in both the US and Canada. The agreement allows 7-Eleven to centralize maintenance activity in order for stores to operate more efficiently and receive top-quality service, while reducing costs.FM will be responsible for all 7-Eleven maintenance operations, including pump and tank, refrigeration, plumbing & electrical services, and repair of specialty convenience store equipment such as the iconic Slurpee® beverage machines. Additionally, FM’s tracking and reporting will identify opportunities for continuous operational and financial improvement.FM also provides facility maintenance services for other top brands, including Outback Steakhouse, ExxonMobil, Goodyear Tires, REI and Dollar General. Amgen Inc signed an outsourcing agreement for its facilities management and will layoff approximately 150 jobs companywide. The facilities services contract applies to Amgen's 11 North American sites, with most of the effect on facilities staff in Thousand Oaks, Calif., said company spokesman David Polk. The company also is reducing staff in its engineering group.The company entered into an agreement with Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc., to provide facilities management services under a 5-year contract worth $500 million, Amgen reported in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Feb. 10. That contract includes services such as building and facilities maintenance, food services, waste disposal and recycling, inventory management of related supplies, utilities systems maintenance and other projects, the filing reads.

BP's $3.8 Billion Upgrade to Whiting Refinery Targets Canadian Heavy Crude

BP (NYSE:BP) (London) has made the final investment commitment to go ahead with the $3.8 billion upgrade project at its Whiting, Indiana, refinery. In October 2006, BP awarded Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR) (Irving, Texas) with contract packages for the project's program management and three major engineering and fabrication packages. The $800 million delayed coker contract was awarded to Foster Wheeler (NASDAQ:FWLT) (Clinton, New Jersey). The $500 million sulfur recovery complex expansion contract is being handled by Jacobs Engineering Group Incorporated (NYSE:JEC) (Pasadena, California) along with the $30 million desulfurization unit upgrade. The upgrades will increase the refining of Canadian crudes from 30% to 90% of the total oil processed.

CB Richard Ellis Group has landed two new assignments in the services arena, adding to a list of new contracts that has been growing steadily of late. One of the new assignments is for facilities management of Automatic Data Processing Inc.'s 6.7-million-square-foot portfolio, the other with Ontario Realty Corp. for real estate services for the Ontario provincial government in Canada, which will be handled by CBRE Canada.CBRE's five-year assignment with ADP will cover the Roseland, NJ-based company's more than 200 facilities across the US. Eurest Services has extended a major European contract with Royal Dutch Shell to include the petroleum and energy firm’s businesses in North and South America.The extended contract for hard and soft services across Canada, the US and parts of Latin America has doubled Eurest’s annual revenue with its client to £200m, making the deal one of the largest FM contracts ever, Eurest said.The extended contract will allow Shell to rationalise the number of existing FM contractors in the Americas from more than 150 down to one.Eurest Services will continue to provide a wide array of services including catering, vending, cleaning, reception, mechanical services and electrical services at a variety of sites including headquarters, refineries and mines.

Compass group's Eurest division has won an extension to its hard and soft services contract that will see it take on the oil company's sites in the US, Canada and South America.The deal, valued at more than £200m pa, will enable Shell to rationalise the number of existing FM contractors in the Americas from more than 150 down to one.The new contract doubles the value of the existing relationship which extends across the UK and Europe. Services included span catering, vending, cleaning, mechanical and electrical and reception at a broad range.This deal sees Eurest delivering catering services to the group's 78 UK sites for the next five years. Compass has also confirmed the Eurest win at Lloyds Banking Group reported on i-FM last week.
