Services, maintenance and building company, Interserve Plc (IRV.L: News ), Tuesday, said it has received a three-year facilities management contract worth GBP 200 million from HSBC and is commencing service delivery today. Interserve stated that the contract represents a further integration of HSBC's support services functions.As per the agreement that has a potential two-year extension, Berkshire, UK-based Interserve will deliver facilities services at more than 1,600 retail and 120 office sites across UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.Interserve said it has undertaken a complex handover including the transfer, under TUPE regulations, of more than 2,000 staff from various incumbent suppliers and also from HSBC. Interserve also added that the deal is one of the largest of such contracts in the UK.The responsibilities of Interserve include the delivery of services to the headquarters of HSBC group in Canary Wharf, in addition to an estate which includes ATM cash machines, retail branches, commercial centres, offices, data centres, sports, social facilities and training centres. In total, Interserve will be managing facilities over an area of 720 thousand square meters.Key support services in the agreement include a centralised service, helpdesk and performance centre, building services, fabric maintenance, cleaning, catering and utilities management, in a 'total' facilities management package.

Johnson Controls Secures Facilities Management Win with Barclays

JCI announced it has signed a contract with Barclays to deliver expanded facilities management (FM) services across 1,800 retail sites and 50 corporate buildings in the United Kingdom. These services went live on November 1, 2009. It was further announced that Johnson Controls is now the FM supplier of choice for Barclays properties globally. Johnson Controls has been providing services for Barclays in Spain and Italy since 2008. Later this year Johnson Controls will expand its relationship with Barclays when it takes control of over 900 retail and corporate facilities of ABSA, Barclays joint venture partner in South Africa.Jon Couret, global head of corporate real estate services at Barclays said, "We are really pleased to expand our relationship with Johnson Controls. Macro is to provide facilities services to Invesco's European portfolio in eight countries building on its successful relationship in the UK.Macro, the FM arm of Mace Group has extended its relationship with Invesco to provide services to its European portfolio, in a contract worth £1.8m per annum. Macro is currently mobilising a full range of services including cleaning, maintenance, reception, mailroom, reprographics, waste, security, environmental, health and safety, fire and energy management across offices located in Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels, Munich, Vienna, Prague, Zurich, Madrid and Milan.The new agreement also includes the transfer of a number of staff into Macro, thus developing its capability to provide FM services across the EMEA region. Worth over £100m, the contract is for its entire estate, totalling over 3800 buildings, including their head office and laboratory as well as operational buildings throughout the Thames region. MITIE will have the responsibility for managing and delivering a variety of expertise and services, which will include a tailored asset management strategy, enabling TWUL to identify and target effective capital investment, reducing annual operational expenditure. MITIE has announced a FM contract worth £20.4m per annum with The Co-operative Group. MITIE will be providing a range of cleaning services to all Co-operative food retail stores across the UK.The three-year contract will see MITIE clean more than 2,500 stores and this includes 600 Somerfield stores that MITIE already looks after. MITIE also cleans the retailer’s major head offices across the country. In total over 3,000 people are transferring to MITIE’s business during the mobilisation process.

The initial phase of detailed root and branch review and analysis across all FM activities was undertaken over 2007 and 2008. A tailor-made solution was developed, and following a stringent bidding process, a JV headed by Michael Cant of ArcusFM, was appointed in 2008 as the successful contractor to manage the FM contract for Sainsbury’s stores from February 2009.Earlier this year Mike Cant decided to return to consultancy work leaving the ArcusFM organisation to be headed by Sainbury’s Chris Green.

Sodexo scoops £35m FM contract at Ilford hospital

The five-year deal with King George Hospital, Ilford, is to provide total facilities management (TFM) services. Sodexo will employ around 360 staff in its operation at the 455-bed hospital to provide patient, staff and visitor catering.Other services will include estates and energy management, grounds and gardens, security, traffic management, cleaning services, pest control and portering.
