Balfour Beatty plc: Balfour Beatty Trading Update
01/01/2010
The acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff ("PB") in October last year was the realisation of a number of key strategic objectives and has given the Group significantly enhanced capabilities and presence acrossthe entire life cycle of major infrastructure assets. As such, we have re-evaluated how we should report the Group's business, and in line with the business model.we have created, we will report the business in four segments: construction services, professional services, support services and infrastructure investments. While each of these segments represent strong independent businesses, they work together to provide integrated solutions for customers. Support Services, which comprises our utilities, facilities management, rail renewals and highways maintenance activities, has performed well in the year, and with recent wins finishes the year with a strong future order book. We have recently announced a seven-year contract to provide integrated facilities management services to QinetiQ and our utilities business has secured new AMP 5 capital programme contracts with United Utilities and Anglian Water worth in the region of GBP600 million in total.

Dalkia considers British sale
01/05/2009
Dalkia's British division is understood to be considering a disposal of the facilities management arm, clients of which include AstraZeneca, Heinz and Tesco. It also provides services to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and North Somerset Council. The group is also looking at a sale of the unit that manages energy consumption for businesses but will look to keep Dalkia's infrastructure unit, which designs, builds and installs combined heat and power plants. This is because Dalkia believes the infrastructure division will grow quickly but needs additional funding to expand. Sources said trade buyers from the construction industry, such as Carillion, could be interested in buying Dalkia. Companies already established in the facilities management sector, including the 3i-backed Enterprise, could also make an offer.
